Rhonda is a classical violist/violinist. Rhonda graduated with a B.F.A in Music Performance from the University of South Florida. Highlights of her 20 + year career include tours in Japan and Korea with the Mantovani Orchestra, working as the principle violist for the Naples Philharmonic, and performances with the Russian Ballet Orchestra, and Tampa Bay Opera. She performed in orchestras accompanying legends such as Julie Andrews, Red Skelton, Liberace, Robert Goulet, and Frank Sinatra Jr., Johnnie Mathis, Dionne Warwick, Tony Bennet, Henry Mancini, and Burt Bacharach.
Ms Lorence is a founding member of the Boone, North Carolina band The Mountain Laurels and the Central Florida band Paisley Moon Trio. The Mountain Laurels performs a blend of Celtic and Appalachian fiddle music from the roots culture of Western North Carolina. The band has released two CDs and can be heard on Pandora’s Celtic Channel. Highland Bloom (2012) and Edge of the Dance (2015) were recorded in Rhonda’s Deep Gap, NC studio. Rhonda released three albums of her original compositions, Winter Moon (2005) and Movements in the Moment (2010) and Abstract Order (2023). Her compositions “Changing Tides” and “Winter Moon”, and Embracing Heart” have been featured on Music Choice satellite channels and NPR radio.
The Paisley Moon Trio began performing in 2020.The trio draws on over four decades of recording and performance experience. Their shows feature pop, folk, and originals tunes from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Rhonda creates all the backing tracks with bass/drum/keyboard accompaniments recorded in her home studio in Boone, NC
As a composer, Lorence’s classical training, extensive performance career, and passion for the violin and viola combine to create a unique neoclassical sound. Critics have describe her style as the meeting of Richard Wagner, John Williams and Phillip Glass – some of the best contemporary instrumental music (New Age Reporter) and so haunting…(it) goes straight to the soul (WERU-FM, East Orland, Maine). Winter Moon was nominated in four categories for the New Age Reporter Lifestyle Awards in 2005. Films and ballets have licensed numerous compositions from her albums.
